Check IP

Look up the profile's public IP with its country, region, city, timezone and network.

Only inWarpX Browser

Check IP finds out the address the profile goes out from, as sites see it: through its proxy. Use it to confirm a proxy works and is in the right country before signing in, or to record which IP each account used.

The Check IP block's settings, filled in as in the example below.

Every block also has the shared block settings — a description, Disable block and what to do on an error. Fields that take text accept data from earlier blocks.

What it hands on

An object with ip, country (a two-letter code such as DE), region, city, timezone (such as Europe/Berlin), org (the network, such as AS3320 Deutsche Telekom AG) and location (latitude, longitude). It goes to the variable and on as {{prevBlockData}}, so {{variables.ipInfo.country}} reads the country. The log line reads like 93.184.216.34 · DE · Berlin.

Example: Stop before signing in when the proxy is in the wrong country

  1. Start
  2. Check IP
  3. Conditions
  4. Open URL
  5. Forms
Where Check IP sits in the example workflow.
  1. Start the workflow with a Check IP block, Assign to variable ticked, named ipInfo.
  2. Add a Conditions block with one path, Germany: {{variables.ipInfo.country}} Equals DE.
  3. Connect Germany to an Open URL block with the site's login page and the rest of the sign-in.
  4. Connect the Fallback output to a Notification block that says Proxy is in {{variables.ipInfo.country}}, not DE, and leave it there so the run ends.

Good to know

  • The lookup goes out over the profile's own proxy, so no tab needs to be open. Testing the block in the editor without the profile running shows this computer's IP instead.
  • It asks ipinfo.io and falls back to ipwho.is when that one is down or rate-limited, 15 seconds each. When neither answers the block fails with "Could not find out the IP ... is the proxy working?", which makes it a quick check that a proxy is alive.
  • The timezone is the IP's, which is what a fingerprint's timezone should agree with.
