Block reference / Device Management

Transfer file

Copy a file from this computer to the phone, or from the phone to this computer.

Only inWarpX Phone

Transfer file moves one file between this computer and the phone over the ADB connection. Push a photo or video to the phone for an app to post, or pull a file an app saved back to this computer. A path ending in / is a folder, and the file keeps its own name.

Transfer file copies post-01.jpg from this computer into the phone's Pictures/WarpX folder.
The Transfer file block's settings, filled in as in the example below.

Settings

Direction

This computer → the phone copies a file onto the phone. The phone → this computer copies one off it.

ExampleThis computer → the phone
On this computer

Pushing, the file to copy. Pulling, where to save it: empty saves to Downloads/phone-files, a relative path is under Downloads, and a path ending in / is a folder.

ExampleC:\Users\me\Pictures\post-01.jpg
On the phone

Pushing, where the file goes; the folder is made if it is missing. Pulling, the file to copy. The default is /sdcard/Download/.

Example/sdcard/Pictures/WarpX/
Save where the file now is to a variable

Writes the copied file's full path, on the phone after a push or on this computer after a pull, into a variable.

ExampleChecked
Variable namewhen Save where the file now is to a variable is on

The unlabelled box under the checkbox: the variable to write.

ExamplephotoOnPhone
Delay (ms)

A wait after the block finishes, before the next one starts. One number such as 1000, or a range such as 1000,3000 for a random wait in that range on each run.

Example0

Every block also has the shared block settings — a description, Disable block and what to do on an error. Fields that take text accept data from earlier blocks.

What it hands on

Hands on the copied file's full path as {{prevBlockData}}, such as /sdcard/Pictures/WarpX/post-01.jpg, and writes it to the variable when ticked.

  3. Set On the phone to /sdcard/Pictures/WarpX/.

Good to know

  • Without root only shared storage, /sdcard, is open. Another app's private data cannot be read or written.
  • One file at a time, up to 512 MB. A folder cannot be copied whole.
  • Pulling a path that is not there fails with FILE_NOT_FOUND. Pushing a path on this computer that is not a file fails with there is no file at ….
  • Before a run of a workflow somebody else made — from the Appstore, a file or the assistant — WarpX Phone shows what this block will do and asks first. Workflows you set up in your own editor never ask.
